Type of Cover: | Motor Vehicle | Insurer: | Lumley General Insurance | Policy Number: | PELP-0203-3615 | Period of Insurance: | From 31 October 2008 to 31 October 2009 | Certificate of Currency: | Please contact insurance@uwa.edu.au to request a copy of the certificate of curency | Persons Insured by this Policy: | The University provides insurance for authorised members of University staff or students using University vehicles for official business. All drivers must hold a current and appropriate license for the class of vehicle being driven. "L" Plate drivers are not permitted to drive vehicles insured by this policy The policy provides cover for all licensed motor vehicles including cars, trucks, buses, motor cycles and trailers owned by, or in which the University has an insurable interest. Failure to follow the following procedures will result in vehicles NOT being insured. Vehicles must only be used on University business as outlined in the University Finance Manual. The driver must have an appropriate and current drivers licence, The vehicle must not be driven by a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If the vehicle is to be used in an off-road situation, the driver must have attended a Four Wheel Drive Training Course. | Conditions: | Driving Own Vehicle for Work Purposes Your own car is NOT insured for work purposes unless you have arranged the cover through your OWN insurers. Hire VehiclesHired vehicles are NOT insured by the University Motor Fleet Policy. When you hire a car for University business, standard insurance is normally included as part of the hire charge. If insurance is not included as part of the hire charge, the Department shall purchase insurance for the vehicle from the hire company. No cover is available under the UWA policy. | Excesses/Deductibles: | The $1000 excess is payable by the department sustaining the loss or damage.
Should a third party be responsible for the accident the excess MAY be recoverable. | Making a Claim: | Report all vehicle accidents to the Insurance Office on 6488 7487
- Obtain 2 quotes from a vehicle repairer (see attached list)
- Arrange an appointment for the driver of the damaged vehicle to attend the Insurance Office to complete a claim form and have their drivers licence photocopied.
- The original claim form, copy of the drivers licence (front and back) and repair quotation together with the vehicle must be taken to the repairer who will arrange to have the vehicle inspected by an assessor and undertake the repairs. A copy of this documentation must be lodged with the insurance office.
- If the claim is for a broken windscreen, please contact our preferred supplier, Novus, on 13 22 34. Please ensure you obtain the invoice from Novus, pay the account then submit a claim form to this office for reimbursement. There is no excess applicable to windscreen claims.

Your claim will be lodged with the insurer who have 14 days to assess your claim The insurer will authorise repairs to the panel beater You will be contacted by the authorised panel beaters to arrange a suitable time to take your vehicle in for repairs
